Pennsylvania AAA High School State Championships

LEWISBURG, Pennsylvania, March 20. THE Emmaus girls walked away with the state title at the Pennsylvania AAA High School State Championships. They scored 237 points, followed by Souderton (212.5) and Hershey (183.5). On the boys' side, North Allegheny secured first place, while Emmaus and LaSalle College went head-to-head for second. Emmaus came out on top with 208 points, while LaSalle settled for third (205).

Girls Results
Allie Roberts, Morgan Oxley, Deidre Geroni, and Catherine Carr (Emmaus) opened the meet with a state record in the 200 medley relay (1:44.28).

Senior Paige Whitmire of Souderton had individual wins in the 50 freestyle (22.83) and the 100 backstroke. She exceeded Tricia Weaner's (Gettysburg Area) 2006 standard with a time of 54.45.

Hershey's Kathleen Nolan won the 100 butterfly and the 100 freestyle with times of 52.99 and 50.00 respectively.

Angela Severn (Souderton) set a state record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:48.13. She teamed up with Missy Doll, Chloe Thomas, and Whitmire to set state records in the 200 (1:34.16) and 400 (3:25.30) freestyle relays.

Samantha Pickens (Franklin Regional) finished first in the diving competition with a score of 506.65. Victoria Brungo (Kiski Area High) took second (447.95) and Rachel Mumma (Cedar Cliff) placed third (439.40).

Boys Results
Wilson won two of three relays. Nathaniel Savoy, Steve Gallagher, Jared Figueroa, and Michael Westley combined for a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:33.93).

Junior Matthew Belecanech and senior Greg Mahon (Prep) set four state records. Belecanech won the 200 (1:36.05) and 500 (4:22.21) freestyles, while Mahon took first in the 200 IM (1:48.31) and the 100 butterfly (48.13).

Gallagher, Jack Ruth, Westley, and Dan Crigler set a state record in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:23.00.

Connor Kuremsky (North Allegheny) won the diving competition with a score of 541.50. He fell short by .10 points to Steve Bohner's (North Penn) 1998 state record. Zac Nees (North Penn) and Heath Calhoun (Butler) followed with scores of 533.05 and 462.75 respectively.

Emmaus closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. Jesse Martucci, Nick Kovacs, Romain DeCrop, and Ryan Roberts clocked a time 3:04.09.
