NCSA Junior Nationals: Distance, Medleys Featured on First Night

ORLANDO, Florida, March 17. THE first day of swimming at the National Club Swimming Association Junior Nationals featured distance swimming along with the 200 medley relays.

Nova of Virginia's Rachel Naurath clocked a strong time of 16:07.53 to win the women's 1650-yard free, while Eva Lehtonen of the Oakland Live Y'ers took second in 16:10.37. Badger's Aja Vanhout placed third in 16:26.73.

Jersey Wahoo Matthew Belecanech captured the men's 1000-yard free title in 9:03.27, while The Woodlands' Michael McBroom touched second in 9:06.47. Fox Valley's Burke Sims finished third in 9:07.73.

Aquajets' Rachel Bootsma, Abby Duncan, Meghan Cummings and Tess Behrens claimed the women's 200-yard medley relay in 1:39.63, while Curl Burke's Janet Hu, Ellyn Baumgardner, Gabrielle Mizerak and Meredith Cavalier took second in 1:41.26. Baylor's Arden Pitman, Alison Lusk, Anna Gwarjanski and Sloane Pitman wound up third in 1:41.74.

Poseidon's Samuel Rairden, Stuart Ferguson, Chris Borysewicz and Alexander Aceino pocketed the men's 200-yard medley relay title in 1:30.71. Curl Burke's Philip Hu, Chuck Katis, David Kiss and Patrick Sullivan placed second in 1:31.96, while Baylor's Reese Shirey, Spencer Rowe, Greg Roop and Josh Sosna took third in 1:32.06.
