Ohio Division II High School State Championships

CANTON, Ohio, March 3. HAWKEN and University took home the girl's and boy's state titles at the Ohio Division II High School State Championships. The Hawken girls scored 334 points, followed by New Albany (213) and Wyoming (140). On the boys' side, University scored 288 points, while Wyoming placed second (180) and Sandusky Perkins finished third (174).

Girls Results
Margo Geer (Fairbanks), a five-star recruit in the Swimming World College Recruit rankings powered by Take Your Marks, surpassed two long-standing pool records. Her 50 freestyle time of 22.58 beat the 1984 pool record set by Centerville's Aimee Berzins, and her 100 freestyle time (49.39) exceeded the 1977 pool record held by Jill Sterkel (El Monte Aquatic).

Hawken won two of three relays. Morgan Cohara, Brittany Rospierski, Alana Arnold, and Dana Shaker set a state record in the 200 medley relay (1:47.57). Arnold also won the 100 butterfly (56.96).

Samantha Zuch (Napoleon) won the 200 (1:50.34) and 500 (4:59.17) freestyles.

New Albany's 200 freestyle relay team of Jenna Young, Franciska Mandy, Fanny Mandy, and Molly Dengler won with a time of 1:37.70. Dengler also won the 200 IM (2:05.34).

Bay Village's Nikki Craft won the diving competition (475.40), followed by Shawnee's Chelsea Lucas (424.10) and Wauseon's Kendall Weber (413.00).

Rospierski, a four-star recruit, won the 100 breaststroke (1:03.98). She joined Cohara, Jordan Bitterman, and Mackenzie Harris in the 400 freestyle relay. The girls clocked a first-place finishing time of 3:34.54.

Boys Results
Matt Gleason, Austen Sybert, Stuart Sliwowski, and Brian Barrett won the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.16). Barrett, who is a three-star recruit, also won the individual 50 freestyle (20.98).

In the boy's diving competition, Jeff Craig took first (481.70), while New Albany's Gabe Dixson and Chagrin Falls' Jamie Englhardt went head-to-head for second. Dixson came out on top by only 0.45 points for a final score of 466.75.

University's Ian Stewart-Bates won the 200 (1:38.64) and the 500 (4:31.02) freestyles. He joined Tyler Bailey, Ben Stewart-Bates, and Nicholas Crane for a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:06.70). Bailey also won the individual 100 freestyle with a time of 45.44.

Sandusky Perkins won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:35.39. Jimmy Chapman, Jonathon Harris, Chris Wadlock, and Michael Mulvin contributed to the win.
