COLUMBIA, Missouri, February 28. TEXAS finished the Big 12 Championships with an American record in the men's 400-yard freestyle relay.
The foursome of David Walters (41.92), Benjamin Van Roekel (42.55), Jimmy Feigen (41.95) and Ryan Verlatti (42.75) posted a sterling time of 2:49.17 to clip the previous American record of 2:49.80 set by Texas in 2001.
The NCAA and U.S. Open record still remains in the hands of Auburn's Jakob Andkjaer, Gideon Louw, Kohlton Norys and Matt Targett as they posted a 2:46.03 at the 2009 Southeastern Conference Championships last weekend.

March 1, 2009 Does this record really count when Verlatti should have been DQd for jumping?? Submitted by: swimfin12
March 1, 2009 Their reaction times were crazy all around....
.51 here for Walters .49 in the 50 final! Feigen with a .80 in a relay take off? .1 for Verlatti? I have heard that possibly the sensors were not functioning 100%. Although the results are fairly consistent throughout the meet. Submitted by: elixirnova
