Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships: Day Three

BROWN DEER, Wisconsin, February 18. UNIVERSITY of Wisconsin-La Crosse secured the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Championship following three days of competition at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center on Feb. 18.
The Eagles captured the 12th league title in program history and third in the last five seasons with 906 points. UW-Eau Claire finished second with 755 points, while two-time defending champion was third with 738, UW-Whitewater fourth with 433, UW-Oshkosh fifth with 265 and UW-River Falls sixth with 158.

UW-La Crosse's Danielle Ellingson was selected the Performer of the Meet, while her head coach, Rich Pein captured the Coach of the Year honor.

UW-Stevens Point's Anna Nyland earned Diver of the Meet honors and UW-Eau Claire's Kirsten Lickel received the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete Award.

An All-Sportsmanship Team was chosen for individuals that displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the season. It included one member from each school. Named to the squad were: UW-EauClaire's Kia Kraft, UW-La Crosse's Sarah Swanson, UW-Oshkosh's Melissa Harvey,UW-River Falls' Sarah Koch, UW-Stevens Point's Diandra Nero and UW-Whitewater's Megan Kohnke.

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point captured its 13th consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Swimming and Diving Championship following three days of competition at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center on Feb. 18.

The league trophy for the Pointers is the 16th in program history and 15th in the last 16 seasons. They compiled 874 points to surpass the second place total of 753 points by UW-La Crosse. UW-Whitewater finished third with 632, UW-Eau Claire fourth with 541, UW-Oshkosh fifth with 305 and UW-River Falls sixth with 169.

UW-Oshkosh's Phil Devine secured the Diver of the Meet honor, while UW-Stevens Point's Joey Clapp was chosen the Performer of the Meet.

UW-Stevens Point's Al Boelk earned the Coach of the Year honor and UW-LaCrosse's Joel Knuesel claimed the Max Sparger Scholar-Athlete Award.
