Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships: Day Two

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, February 20. INCARNATE Word's women swimmers and divers were put in first position in the pre-season poll for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and at the end of day two of the league championships the Cardinals showed why they were tagged the favorites.

Incarnate Word this year is competing for the first time as an associate member of the RMAC. The Cardinals are hosting the championship meet through Saturday at San Antonio's Davis Natatorium.

Day two found the Cardinals giving a dominate performance in winning five of the scheduled eight events. In the three not won by UIW the Cardinals got three second place finishes.

The Incarnate Word first places were spread around among its swimmers. Paulina Alexander won the 400-yard individual medley in 4:29.61 while Kaylin Davidson came home first in the 200-freestyle in a time of 1:56.60. The third individual victory for UIW was when Shaleen Doctor won the 100-breaststroke in 1:07.93.

Incarnate Word won both of Friday's relay events. The Cardinals–Joy Turner, Nora Szilagyi, Lesley Murray, Rachel Watson–swam 1:50.05 in the 200-medlay for first. Later, Watson teamed with Alexander, Davidson and Murray to win the 800-freestyle relay in 7:44.34.

The meet reaches its final day on Saturday with prelims at 9 a.m. and finals at 5 p.m.
