Chuck Batchelor, Elizabeth Beisel Featured In Swimming Technique Section of February Swimming World

PHOENIX, Arizona, February 5. CHUCK Batchelor, current head coach of the USA women's national junior team and the Bluefish Swim Club in Attleboro, Mass., is a big proponent of teaching his swimmers the value of hard work.

While one of the tenants of his coaching philosophy is a belief in real swimming intensity at the highest levels, he also feels strongly that there needs to be room made for fun in the sport as well.

Another critical component of Batchelor's program is kicking. In particular, the Bluefish work regularly to improve their kicking by incorporating it into four different levels of their training regimen. In this interview, he also offers a favorite kicking set, one which taxes the legs with shorter intervals and demanding intensity at maximum effort.

Among other subjects touched on are his thoughts and approaches to dryland training, motivation of athletes as well as advice to parents of age group swimmers.

Additionally, Swimming Technique looks at how Olympian Elizabeth Beisel trains with Batchelor and the Bluefish.
