Maryland-Baltimore County vs. William and Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia, January 31. THE William and Mary Tribe men's swimming and diving team fell to a talented UMBC squad on Saturday afternoon, 123-173.

Leading the way for the Tribe were senior Shawn Matthews and freshman Derek Bui, who each tallied an individual victory and a relay win in the 400 medley. Matthews captured the 100 back in a time of 51.58, while Bui was victorious in the 200 breast, touching the wall in a time of 2:07.98.

Matthews and Bui teamed with sophomore Geoff Ramsdell and junior Kevin Gallagher to win the 400 medley relay in a time of 3:26.64.

Also earning individual victories for the Green and Gold were senior Jason Brisson and freshman Kyle Comiskey. Brisson won the 100 breast in a time of 58.50, while Comiskey won the 1-Meter (5) with a score of 144.00.

Freshman Jake Maloy had a great meet for the Tribe, setting two personal-bests in the 100 back and the 100 fly (52.75). Maloy's second-place time of 51.78 in the 100 back was not only a personal-best, but also broke the College's freshman record. His mark places him fourth all-time at William and Mary.

Classmate Luke Robbins also swam well, setting a personal-best in the 1,000 free with his third-place time of 9:59.35.

Next up for the William and Mary Tribe men's swimming and diving team is a visit from East Carolina on Saturday, February 7, on Senior Day. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1p.m. at the Rec Center Pool.
