Zeeland Swimmer Saves Drowning Teammate

ZEELAND, Michigan, January 26. ACCORDING to an article in the Holland Sentinel, Jacob Heemstra of the Zeeland Swim Team saved his teammate Andrew Brookhouse from drowning.

Brookhouse, who suffered a seizure and lost consciousness during a practice, was at the bottom of the pool when Heemstra noticed something was wrong.

"I remember going down and bringing him to the surface. I don't remember the thought process," Heemstra told the Holland Sentinel. "I didn't think about it until afterwards. It was kind of like, ‘Whoa, I just did that.'"

According to the article, it was the first seizure suffered by Brookhouse. The near-drowning has also led to some lifestyle changes for Brookhouse, but he has since returned to the water.
