UC Irvine vs. UC San Diego, Cal Baptist

IRVINE, California, January 25. THE UC Irvine men swept UC San Diego and Cal Baptist while the Anteater women defeated Cal Baptist and lost to UC San Diego Saturday afternoon in a double-dual meet at Anteater Aquatics Complex. The meet is the final home meet of the season for the 'Eaters.

The UCI men won nine of the 16 events held with senior Randall Tom (Wailuku, Hawaii/Seabury Hall) won the 200 fly (1:49.69), the 100 fly (48.24) and swam for both of UCI's winning relays. Sophomore Garrett Thompson (Stockton/Lincoln HS) won both the 200 free (1:42.76) and the 100 free (45.97) and was on both relay teams. Sophomore diver Miles Smith (Carmichael/Capital Christian HS) won both the one-meter (275.75) and the three-meter (364.80) competitions.

On the women's side, UCI won seven events on the day. Sophomore Ann Tsuchiya (South Pasadena/Mayfield HS) won the 1000 free (10:32.27), the 200 free (1:54.42) and the 500 free (5:06.76). Junior diver Melanie Grosvenor (Mission Viejo HS) won both the three-meter (287.15) and the one-meter (272.35) competitions. Junior Jessica Schlitz (Turlock HS) won both the 200 fly (2:07.08) and the 100 fly (57.32).

The UC Irvine men's and women's swimming & diving teams will return to action Friday, February 6th as they travel to Big West rival Cal State Northridge at 12:00 p.m. at Matador Pool.
