UNLV vs. Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, January 17. THE UNLV men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept the first of two dual meets on the road on Friday afternoon, with the Rebel men (5-0. 4-0 MWC) claiming a 177-123 victory, with the women (4-3, 3-3 MWC) topped the Falcons 161-124.

UNLV won 10 of 16 events on the men's side, and was paced by a pair of double-event winners, John Mendoza (500 free – 4:36.15, 1000 free – 9:29.76) and Charlie Tapp (50 free-20.95, 100 free-46.58). Single event winners included Kyle Virva in the 200 free (1:42.45), David Seiler in the 200 fly (1:53.45), Nick Blank in the 200 back (1:52.39), Akos Molnar in the 200 breast (2:06.28), and Peter Lorring in the 100 fly (50.92). Steven Nelms, Calan Eldridge, Tapp and Thomas Andoflsson teamed up to win the 400 free relay in 3:06.74.

The Rebel women dominated their meet, winning the first 11 events before exhibitioning four of the last five on the way to their victory. Claiming wins for the Rebels was Lara Sreibers in the 1000 free (11:02.64), Zsuzsanna Jakabos in the 200 free (1:53.20), Amanda Weinbrecht in the 100 back (59.32), Kelsey Clarke in the 100 breast (1:05.93), Ana Dangalakova in the 200 fly (2:09.29), Friderika Szel in the 50 free (24.57) and 100 free (53.38), Rachelle Zuccaro on the 1-meter (280.80) and 3-meter diving (269.85), Lisa Gillespie (2:05.48), and Elise Warren in the 200 breast (2:31.54). Jakabos, Clarke, Weinbrecht, and Megan Clark won the afternoon's first event, the 200 medley relay, in 1:46.00
