January 1, 2009 A small correction on Julia Smit's 400IM - Stanford has not gone by name "Indians" since late 1970's - it's been "Cardinal" since then.

January 1, 2009 Kirsty Coventry actually won 2004 NCAAs in the 200 Back, Hoelzer second, Coughlin faded badly to third.

January 2, 2009 SWIMDER94 is correct.

Auburn's Kirsty Cventry did win the NCAA 200 back five years ago, thus depriving Natalie Coughlin of a record 12th gold-medal.

And yes, Tiger teamamte Margaret Hioelzer was runner-up with Natalie third.

For some reason I always thought that Hoelser had won and so wrote accordingly. I will deefinitely correct the list.

Thx for the correction and as the famous man once said:

"She is a lovely lady and my apoloigies to her."

January 2, 2009 Also, in regard to that same event, Coughlin's winning streak was SHORT COURSE (yards and meters). From 2001-present, she only lost the 200 Back at 2004 NCAAs and 100 Fly at 2007 SC Nats Short Course, but suffered plenty of Long Course defeats.

January 6, 2009 At the 2001 Pac 10 Championships, Coughlin lost to Shelly Ripple in the 200 IM (1:57.83 vs 1:58.13) and the 100 Fly to Misty Hyman (:51.83 vs :52.04) so I guess your statement depends on where you start in 2001.

January 6, 2009 Skipswims is correct about Ripple/Coughlin per official results.

My error.

How 'bout if I say something to the effedct that Coughlin never lsot in collegiate competition after '01 Pac 10s until she sswam her final race, i.e., NCAA 200 back in '04.

January 6, 2009 Great list Bill! A couple items I noticed:

Coughlin 50 free: I think she went 21.46 at that meet, not 21.48.
C.Magnuson 50 free: 22.03 instead of 22.02.
C. Nauta 500 free time is out of order in the list.
K. Coventry 200 back: went 1:50.39 on Dec 1, 2007 in Austin at US SC champs.
Anja Carman 200 back: went 1:52.17 on Dec 13, 2007 in San Antonio.
T. Aljand's 51.32 was from College Station in Nov 2008, not NCAA's in Columbus.
A. Aemisegger 200 fly: went 1:55.31 in Princeton in March 2008.
E. Breeden 200 IM: went 1:56.30 at Columbus NCAA champs 2008.
M. Scroggy's time is out of order in the 200 IM list.

Love the list! Keep up the great work.

Guilty as charged with a couple of caveats.

Anja Carman's 1:523+ 200 back is a convereted time from '07 Euro sc Championships, and I only use actual yards' times.

Coughlin's 50 free, Magnusson's 50, Nauta's out of order 500, Aljand's 100fly pr from lastNovember'sArt Adamson Invitational rather than from '08 NCAAs -- keyboard malfunction.

Happens all the time.

I say do X and it does Y.

1:50.3 for KC @ Texas...no wonder she's wr-holder/B'04/'08 ig O's gold-medalist. The time is lsited -- as 1:50.89 -- so again keyboard malfunction. And her 100 split [53.87] is second-fastest all-time en route to a 200 clocking.

Breeden's 1:56.30 in banaana heat of NCAAs...time msut have been blacked out/omitted when I looked at official results.

Sorry, Elaine.

Lastly: on Aemisegger's 1:55.31 200 fly.

The Princeton record-book lists this time as the school record and says "2008" for when and where it was swum. (However, if one looks at Aemisegger's bio on ther "roster" section there's no mention of this time.)

My curiosity piqued, I went back and checked official results of '08 Ivys and NCAAs. She didn't swim this event at either meet, not in prelims nor in finals and tehre's n o indicationthat it may have been done in some sort of post-meet time trial @ Ivys.

She only swam 1650 at oth meets.

And USS has the 1:55.8 from alst month's BigAl Open --the time I list -- as her pr tyoo.

Princerton's 2007-'08 archives show no results subsequent to Ivys, which were last weeekend of February.

Howe ver, Harvard competed a week later at ECAC Championships -- but Aemisegger didn't sswim there either.

So...when and where was this time done?

If you'd be interested in taking a crack at editing the entire list, which is well over 15 times as large as what's posted, let me know.
