Swimming World Six-Star Promotions: Elizabeth Beisel, Laura Sogar

PHOENIX, Arizona, December 22. OVER the weekend at the New England Senior Circuit event held in Boston, a pair of swimmers from Bluefish Swim Club were promoted to elite six-star status in the Swimming World College Recruit Rankings powered by Take Your Marks.

Swimming World congratulates Elizabeth Beisel and Laura Sogar for achieving the ultimate ranking in our system.

To be a six-star, a recruit must have a lifetime best short course yard time that would either place them in the past year's A final of an event at the NCAA Division I Championships, or own multiple times that would have reached B finals in the past year.

Beisel has already proven herself in long course competition as the youngest member of the U.S. Olympic squad at the age of 15 this year. This weekend, however, she demonstrated her short course prowess with a trio of A final times. She clocked top times in the 500-yard free (4:40.42), 100-yard back (52.98) and 400-yard IM (4:04.59).

Sogar, who has already signed with the University of Texas out of the Class of 2009, now has a pair of A final times in the 100-yard breast (1:00.70) and 200-yard breast (2:11.09). Her promotion gives the Longhorns three six-stars in 2009 as Kim Brackin has also signed Spindrift Beck and Jessica Guro.

If you know of anyone else of high school age that has recorded a time that would have put them into A finals at last year's NCAA Division I Championships, please let us know via Reaction Time.
