Updated December 7, 2008
PHOENIX, Arizona, December 4. WELL, it's time for another Swimming World Virtual Meet. From time-to-time, when enough strong meets are going on during the same weekend across the world or country, we like to throw them together as it they were the same meet. The top three finishers from each meet are included, if available.
We are including the USA Short Course Nationals (ATL), Texas Invitational (AUS) and Husky Invitational (HUS) so far.
Which meet do you think is the best of the weekend so far?

December 5, 2008 I remember when short course nationals actually meant something. When did it lose its luster and why???? Submitted by: paddles
December 7, 2008 Why not include the Ohio State Invite? U of Minnesota sophomore Jillian Tyler swam a 58.84 100 yard breast yesterday which would place her first in the nation at this point. Submitted by: chapter13
December 7, 2008 That's the beauty of Reaction Time. If you know of a top time in another meet that makes the list, feel free to provide it like you just did. Submitted by: Jason Marsteller
December 7, 2008 Why not get back to short course nationals being THE meet rather than Texas....Ohio...and goodness knows what other competitions going on at the same time. Am I the only one who looks at it in this manner????? Submitted by: paddles
December 7, 2008 Yes, Paddles. You may be the only one. Most of the clubs are looking for opportunities where the top athletes can have some competitions against other top athletes, but also have a better chance for the remainder of their squad to get second swims. This seems to apply especially to the college teams. Submitted by: dunc1952
December 7, 2008 Bob Dylan was right....The times are a'changing. Best to go with them rather than become a dinosaur. Thanks, dunc1952 for the quick explanation. Now I get it. ;o) Submitted by: paddles
December 7, 2008 Watching the videos of this weekends sc nationals on swimnnetwork.com I saw how nearly every female racer was wearing either the LZR, TYR or Blue Seventy tech suit. The only exception I could see was Theresa Crippen from Florida racing in what looked to be a practice suit. In any event, knowing a number of competitors personally, from our part of the country, these swimmers times were shockingly fast from just a couple of weeks ago. My high school age daughter swam at the 2008 Olympic Trials where she was able to swim in a LZR that was borrowed. She swims on a very small team, no team sponsorships, and next week will be competing at Juniors in Austin. Many of you out there have much more experience in this sport than I ever will. How do regular folks afford these suits? Esp the LZR as it's my understanding that it easily rips etc so hate to spend $500 on a suit that could be worthless after one swim. Anyone with ideas I would appreciate. Submitted by: chapter13
December 7, 2008 You guys should include the Georgia Invite:
http://georgiadogs.com/fls/8800/swimstats/20081205/index.htm?SPSID=40613&SPID=3563&DB_OEM_ID=8800
Their women are putting up times just as fast as the other meets. Submitted by: chswimmer
