The Morning Swim Show: USA Swimming Proposal; Short Pool at Texas A&M University; Increasing Membership in United States Masters Swimming -- November 25, 2008

PHOENIX, Arizona, November 25. AN interview with two leaders of the push to grow membership in United States Masters Swimming is the focus of Tuesday's edition of The Morning Swim Show.

News of USA Swimming's proposal to put restrictions on the types of swimsuits worn in competition, as well as the window of availability, starts the show. Host Peter Busch also talks about the events surrounding the revoking of times at a meet at Texas A&M due to a pool shorter than regulations.

Ashley Gangloff, marketing and promotions director for United States Masters Swimming, and Mel Goldstein, director of club development, talk about all the new ways USMS is working to bring in new members. Goldstein and Gangloff say their goal is to almost triple the organization's membership and plan to reach out to those who are swimming regularly in health clubs or on their own using the appeal of great coaches, the services a membership to USMS offers and marketing at the grassroots level.
