Arizona 4A Division I High School State Championships

MESA, Arizona, November 1. CATALINA Foothills won two state titles at the Arizona 4A Division I High School State Championships. On the girls' side, Catalina Foothills scored 450 points for first, followed by Canyon Del Oro (284) and Sabino (251). The Catalina Foothills boys won with 485 points while Sunnyslope took second (243) and Sabino placed third (196).

Girls Individual Results
Sabino won two of three relays. Sarah Denninghoff, LeighAnne Oliver, Caitlin Wright, and Courtney Dangremond set a meet record in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.56.

Denninghoff, who is a five-star recruit in the Swimming World College Recruit rankings powered by Take Your Marks had individual wins in the 100 freestyle (51.79) and the 100 backstroke (56.75).

Canyon Del Oro's Lauren Baker was a dual event winner in the 200 IM (2:07.23) and the 100 butterfly (56.68).

Briana Wilford (Catalina Foothills) broke the 24-second barrier in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.63. She teamed up with Veronica So, Karima Chuk, and Kirsten Hocheder in the 200 freestyle relay. The group clocked a time of 1:37.52 for a first-place finish. Chuk and Hocheder had individual wins in the 200 (1:53.16) and 500 (5:01.36) freestyles respectively.

Izzy Diamond (Catalina Foothills) won the diving competition with a score of 361.20. Marlee Kersting (Campo Verde) placed second (348.55) and Rachael Hicks (Sunrise Mountain) took third (334.55).

Denninghoff, Wright, Dangremond, and Oliver took first in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:30.82. Oliver also won the 100 breaststroke (1:05.75).

Boys Individual Results
Catalina Foothills won all three relays. Rhett Wallace, TJ Lundstrom, Barrett Meisfeld, and Cole Puchi clocked a time of 1:34.13 for a win in the 200 medley relay. Puchi also won the 100 freestyle (46.87) and the 100 backstroke (53.26).

Senior Adrian Brynnel (Catalina Foothills) posted best times in the 200 (1:41.99) and 500 (4:35.83) freestyles.

Meisfeld won the 200 IM (1:53.01) and set a meet record in the 100 butterfly (48.80). He teamed up with Lundstrom, Jason Alentado and Drew Gyorke for a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (1:28.63). Lundstrom also won the 100 breaststroke (57.73).

Sunnyslope's Sean Clark won the diving competition with a score of 418.50. Sheldon Solomon (Queen Creek) and Tim Riehle (Peoria) followed with scores of 321.75 and 285.25 respectively.

Wallace, Brynnel, Gyorke, and Puchi closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:13.53).
