Butler vs. Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio, November 1. THE Youngstown State swimming and diving team won every event, and senior Olivia Arnold broke her own school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle as the Penguins defeated Butler 144-87 in a Horizon League dual on Saturday afternoon.

Arnold's winning time of 10:28.53 eclipsed her old school-record time of 10:33.14 that she swam at the 2008 Horizon League Championships.

Arnold also won the 500 free (5:10.23) and the 400 IM (4:39.63) with personal-best times.

Seven other Penguins won individual events, and two others were on winning relays. Sophomore Ashley Williamson picked up individual wins in the 100 back (1:02.03), 200 back (2:17.20) and 100 fly (58.67), and she swam in the winning 200 medley relay.

Other individual winners included Jessica Front in the 200 free (2:01.57), Jen Johnstone in the 100 breast (1:09.49), Caitlin Cook in the 200 fly (2:11.81), Alana Kane in the 50 free (25.77), Kristin Walker in the 100 free (54.34) and Laura Hanley in the 200 breast (2:35.33).

Diver Amanda Carpin broke 200 points on both boards for the second straight week in exhibition diving.

The Penguins will host Cleveland State and Niagara on Friday at 6 p.m.
