SINGAPORE, November 1. PRELIMINARY swimming of the second day of action at the Singapore stop of the FINA World Cup circuit came to a close.

Women's 100 freestyle
Russia's Anastasia Aksenova led qualifying with a time of 55.14, while Australia's Kelly Stubbins (55.23), Kara Lynn Joyce of the U.S. (55.32) and Australia's Sally Foster (55.34) made up the top four.

Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom (55.78), Australia's Alice Mills (55.80), Germany's Lena-Celina Hiller (55.93) and Sweden's Claire Hedenskog (56.02) comprised the rest of the championship eight.

Marieke Guehrer looked to be off her game in the event finishing with a 1:09.62 for last place.

Men's 200 freestyle
Tunisia's Ous Mellouli topped qualifying with a time of 1:49.42, while Germany's Felix Wolf finished second in 1:49.55. Brazil's Rodrigo Castro (1:49.63) and Thiago Pereira (1:49.94) took third and fourth.

Australia's Nicholas Ffrost (1:50.30), New Zealand's Matt Woodrow (1:50.34), Brett Newall (1:50.69) and Steven Kent (1:50.72) captured the final transfer spots.

Women's 50 breaststroke
Tara Kirk of the U.S. took the top seed with a time of 31.56, while Australia's Sally Foster (32.14) and Sarah Katsoulis (32.29) finished second and third.

Sweden's Joline Hostman (32.32), Australia's Kristy Morrison (32.33), Singapore's Xin Jing Cheryl Lim (35.15), Sze Hui Sabrina Heng (35.47) and Dan Dan Lee (35.61) touched fourth through eighth.

Men's 100 breaststroke
Brazil's Henrique Barbosa touched first in 1:00.85, while South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh finished second in 1:00.94.

Russia's Sergey Geybel (1:01.16), Germany's Marco Koch (1:01.43) and Brazil's Eduardo Fischer (1:01.64) placed third through fifth, while South Africa's William Diering (1:01.79), Singapore's Mark Tan (1:01.92) and Australia's Christian Sprenger (1:02.50) wrapped up the top eight.

Men's 100 butterfly
Australia's Matt Jaukovic led qualifying with a time of 51.90, while South Africa's Garth Tune (52.43), Australia's Mitchell Patterson (53.25) and Russia's Evgeny Korotyshkin (53.31) finished in the top four.

Australia's Chris Wright (55.29), New Zealand's Steven Kent (55.53) and Daniel Bell (55.80) as well as Singapore's Nicholas Sim (57.61) earned the rest of the final spots.

Women's 100 backstroke
Russia's Anastasia Zueva edged Brazil's Fabiola Molina, 1:02.53 to 1:02.89, for the top seed, while Australia's Sophie Edington (1:03.21) and New Zealand's Melissa Ingram (1:03.90) placed third and fourth.

Singapore took the rest of the spots with Jia Yi Shana Lim (1:04.65), Edith Ong (1:06.46), Deborah Chua (1:06.94) and Adeline Winata (1:07.89) finishing fifth through eighth.

Men's 50 backstroke
Australia's Ashley Delaney qualified first in the sprint back with a time of 24.44, while Japan's Junya Koga (24.59), South Africa's Garth Tune (24.77) and Australia's Robert Hurley (24.88) placed second through fourth.

Randall Bal of the U.S. (24.89), Peter Marshall of the U.S. (24.97), Singapore's Rainer Ng (26.67) and Singapore's Li Jie Richard Chng (27.90) completed the top eight.

Men's 200 IM
New Zealand's John Gatfield cruised in the preliminary round with a time of 2:00.60, while Germany's Marco Koch touched second in 2:04.09. Brazil's Thiago Pereira (2:05.40) and Tunisia's Ous Mellouli (2:05.94) took third and fourth.

Australia's Sam Ashby (2:05.95) and Chris Wright (2:08.18), New Zealand's Brett Newall (2:09.19) and Singapore's Wei Ming Nicholas Ho (2:13.27) captured the other finale spots.

Women's 400 freestyle
Australia's Bronte Barratt touched first in 4:18.14, while New Zealand's Joyce Wiegersma finished second in 4:18.36.

South Africa's Melissa Corfe (4:20.41), Singapore's Hui Yu Koh (4:24.78) and New Zealand's Melissa Ingram (4:24.92) placed third through fifth, while New Zealand's Natasha Simpson (4:26.49), Singapore's Xiang Qi Amanda Lim (4:28.91) and New Zealand's Charlotte Webby (4:30.52) made up the rest of the championship eight.

Men's 50 freestyle
Sweden's Stefan Nystrand posted the top time with a 21.77, while Australia's Mitchell Patterson (22.18) and Tom Miller (22.47) finished second and third.

Japan's Junya Koga (22.64), New Zealand's Mark Herring (22.67), Brazil's Rodrigo Castro (23.10), Singapore's Li Jie Richard Chng (23.19) and New Zealand's Steven Kent (23.41) took the rest of the finals spots.

Women's 200 breaststroke
Australia's Sarah Katsoulis cruised in the longer breaststroke with a time of 2:33.15, while New Zealand's Natalie Wiegersma (2:35.56) and Sweden's Joline Hostman (2:35.64) took second and third.

Tara Kirk of the U.S. finished fourth in 2:35.75, while South Africa's Kathryn Meaklim (2:36.92), Sweden's Stina Gardell (2:40.03), Singapore's Xin Jing Cheryl Lim (2:43.72) and Sze Hui Sabrina Heng (2:43.83) rounded out the top eight.

Women's 100 IM
Russia's Svetlana Karpeeva paced prelims of the sprint medley with a time of 1:02.04, while Kara Lynn Joyce of the U.S. took second in 1:03.85. Slovakia's Martina Moravcova (1:04.50) and Australia's Kristy Morrison (1:04.55) finished third and fourth.

Brazil's Fabiola Molina (1:05.22), Australia's Sophie Edington (1:06.41), Singapore's Ting Wen Quah (1:06.87) and Tara Kirk of the U.S. (1:07.48) completed the championship finale.

Men's 200 backstroke
Australia's Ashley Delaney qualified first with a time of 1:59.08, while compatriot Robert Hurley finished second in 2:03.95.

Germany's Felix Wolf (2:05.45), Randall Bal of the U.S. (2:07.89), New Zealand's Dylan Dunlop-Barrett (2:07.93), Germany's Yannick Lebherz (2:08.32), Singapore's Rainer Ng (2:09.00) and Jia Chen Yeo (2:14.03) rounded out the rest of finals.

Women's 50 butterfly
Sweden's Therese Alshammar, and teammate Sarah Sjostrom, went 1-2 in the sprint fly with times of 26.68 and 26.88. Australia's Marieke Guehrer bounced back from a rough 100 free with a third-place 26.97, while Singapore's Li Tao took fourth in 27.77.

Australia's Alice Mills (27.97), Amy Smith (28.06), Germany's Lena-Celina Hiller (28.65) and Singapore's Chui Bin Mylene Ong (28.70) took the last transfer spots.
