Meet of the Week Recap: Limestone at Wingate

WINGATE, North Carolina, November 1. IN the first SwimmingWorldMagazine.com Meet of the Week streamed LIVE on our web site, Wingate defended its turf by sweeping Limestone. The men claimed a 146-116 triumph, while the women wound up with a 144-118 victory in the Division II contests.

In the men's 400 medley relay, Linvern Lim leadoff with a B-cut time of 52.25 en route to Limestone's team of Lim, Chad McKenzie, Matt Parsonage and Craig Jordens topping the event in 3:28.86. Lim later won the 100 back in a B-cut time of 52.34, while Wingate's Lee Sousa came up just short of the cut with a second-place 52.56.

Wingate's Gus Chagas posted a B cut in the men's 200 free with a winning time of 1:43.81.

Mason Norman followed with a B cut for Wingate in the men's 100 breast (58.75), while Limestone's Jordens won the 50 free in 21.04 and Norman took second in 21.26 – both B cuts. Norman claimed another B cut as he tied the mark with a 100 free time of 47.06.

Kyle Corcoran of Wingate topped the men's 200 IM with a B-cut time of 1:55.70.

Overall, Norman and Corcoran led Wingate with two and three titles, respectively. Corcoran also won the 500 free (4:48.45) and 1000 free (9:53.24).

McKenzie and Jordens each won three titles for Limestone. On top of the 400 medley relay, McKenzie also won the 200 fly (1:58.54) and 200 breast (2:11.62), while Jordens added the 400 freestyle relay to his medley relay and 50 free win. The Limestone squad of Goran Majlat, Jordens, Anders Melin and Parsonage won the 400 free relay in 3:09.25.

In the women's meet, Limestone's Donna Wickham clocked a 100 back leadoff B cut with a time of 59.80 en route to the relay of Wickham, Carmen Adams, Jessi Sullivan and Marija Grubic winning the race in 4:04.78.

Wingate's Malin Kesmark then picked up a B cut with a time of 2:09.21 to win the women's 200 back, while Limestone's Marta Stepien claimed the women's 200 breaststroke with a B cut of 2:26.69.

Kesmark and Sarah Lawless paced the Wingate women's attack with three titles each. On top of Kesmark's 200 back B cut, she also won the 100 back (1:00.87) and 400 freestyle relay with Cheryl Vaccaro, Kesmark, Samantha Vencl and Lawless taking the title in 3:42.20. Meanwhile, Lawless won the 50 free (25.13) and 100 free (55.45) in successive events.

Isabel Nystrom led Limestone with three crowns as well. She triumphed in the 200 free (1:57.53), 500 free (5:15.83) and 1000 free (10:48.28).
