George Washington vs. La Salle

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, November 1. IN their second home meet in a week, the La Salle men's and women's swimming & diving team was victorious over George Washington on Saturday, as the men went on to win by a score of 200-98 and the women followed up with a 202-91 victory.

The Explorers kicked things off right as sophomore Jessica Carbin, junior Shannon Duval, sophomore Holly Biro and senior Carleen Caldwell helped La Salle achieve first place honors in the women's 400-yard medley relay. Their first place time of 3:56.73 set a new school record.

It was a noteworthy day as all four Explorers, who took part in the women's 400-yard medley relay, went on to place first in at least one event in Saturday's meet. Carbin finished first in the women's 100-yard backstroke (59.29), Duval placed first in both the women's 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.39) and the women's 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.14), Biro was the top swimmer in both the women's 50-yard freestyle (24.83) and the women's 100-yard freestyle (53.87) and Caldwell finished first in the women's 200-yard freestyle (1:58.84).

For the men, senior David Ellerson placed first in both the men's 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.12) and the men's 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.59) and freshman Jordan Baker achieved first prize honors in the men's 1-meter diving (283.79) and the men's 3-meter diving (304.28). Junior Owen Black was the top performer in both the men's 200-yard freestyle (1:44.17) and the men's 100-yard freestyle (47.26).

The Explorers host their third straight meet on Saturday, November 8, when they face Saint Bonaventure at 12:00 PM.
