Illinois-Chicago vs. Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio, October 25. THE Wright State swimming and diving teams opened up their 2008-09 campaigns with a sweep of the UIC Flames at the WSU Natatorium on Saturday afternoon. The men's squad posted a 135-102 victory and the women won in comeback fashion, 120.5-116.5.

The men's squad posted a 135-102 victory over the Flames and took the top two spots in two events against UIC. Three newcomers picked up their first individual victories of their career for the Green and Gold, as Hermanus Botha, Danny Munoz and Davynn Peffer all picked up individual wins.

On the women's side, WSU trailed heading into the last two events, but swept the top two spots in the 200 yard breaststroke and then won the 400 yard freestyle relay and finished third, also, to pick up the 120.5-116.5 victory. Hannah Jones picked up the lone victory for the women's rookies, winning the 200 yard breaststroke event.

The Green and Gold will return to the pool on October 31 at Milwaukee. The Raiders and Panthers will start at 6:00 in Milwaukee.
