Commonwealth Youth Games Take Place in India

PUNE, India, October 21. OVER the weekend, the Commonwealth Youth Games took place in Pune, India. Several top times occurred throughout the meet.

Three women picked up individual title trifectas. Jessica Legge and Jemma Lowe each walked away with three wins. Legge, hailing from Australia, swept the breaststroke events with wins in the 50 (32.60), 100 (1:10.73) and 200 (2:32.09). Meanwhile, Lowe of Wales triumphed in the 50 (27.28), 100 (59.73) and 200 (2:08.67) butterfly events.

Several guys pocketed a pair of wins to lead that side of the meet. Virdhaval Khade of India, Jared Christie Goldthorpe of Australia, Douglas Scott of Scotland and Lachlan Staples of Australia all touched first in two individual events.

Khade proved to be the sprint king with wins in the 50 (22.68) and 100 (49.47) freestyles, while Goldthorpe took the 100 (56.68) and 200 (2:01.28) backstroke events.

Scott captured the 50 (29.51) and 100 (1:04.49) breaststroke events, while Staples won the 100 (53.63) and 200 (1:58.67) fly.
