CSCAA Honors Academic Success in Division II

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 21. OUACHITA Baptist topped the NCAA Division II rankings of academic success awarded by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for Spring 2008. A total of 40 teams – 28 women's and 12 men's – met the requirement of a team grade point average of 3.00 or higher.

Coached by Jim Dann, the Ouachita Baptist women topped the women's list with a team GPA of 3.597, just edging the University of Tampa at 3.530. Ouachita's men placed ninth (3.048), giving the combined women's and men's teams a GPA of 3.298. Bentley College finished second in the combined standings with a 3.280 average.

Bentley came up roses in the men's rankings, sharing the top spot with Missouri S&T at 3.200. Rollins College was third at 3.16.

No fewer than 70 Division II swimmers – 43 women and 27 men – earned individual honors by posting GPA's of 3.500 or higher. Eleven women and two men boasted perfect 4.00 averages.
