NCAA Div. I Women: Arkansas Wins Two

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., Nov. 4. THE University of Arkansas swimmers used their momentum from a strong meet Friday to dominate the University of Houston 154-77 Saturday in Houston, Texas. For two days in a row the Lady Razorbacks swam at a high level and will leave Texas with a 2-2 dual meet record.

"Overall, we have had a really good weekend with great intensity," head coach Anne Goodman James said. "It took us a little longer to get into it today, but we really competed well at the end of the meet."

Leslie Johns and Genny McNeill are just two of the Lady 'Backs who had strong performances this weekend.
Johns controlled the 200 freestyle, as she produced a time of 1:55.55, nearly two seconds faster than the second place finisher, teammate Kattie Shepherd.

"I was impressed most with Leslie Johns," Goodman James said. "She just had a great performance. She dug in and raced and was a great competitor for us."
McNeill took second place in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly, and was just outtouched by Falon Hopkins of Houston in the 200 IM. McNeill produced a lifetime best in the 200 butterfly and attributed her success to a good pool.

"This is my favorite pool," McNeill said. "It's such a great pool, and you have to take advantage of it. I've been swimming well the last two weeks in practice, and I am just pumped."

Natalia Kodajova continued her winning ways, as she won both the 100 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke. Kodajova has won at least one event in every meet this season.
