Masters World Record Barrage at Pacific Masters Walnut Creek SCM Championships

WALNUT CREEK, California, October 15. RECENTLY, at the Pacific Masters Walnut Creek Short Course Championships, 16 Masters world records took a tumble.

Laura Val posted five global records in the 55-59 age division. She clocked top times in the 100 back (1:12.92), 200 back (2:40.05), 50 fly (31.75), 100 fly (1:09.40) and 400 free (4:46.64).

Meanwhile, Richard Burns took down four standards in the 65-69 division. He posted records in the 50 back (32.12), 100 back (1:10.66), 100 fly (1:10.25) and 100 IM (1:10.67).

David Gildea also performed well in the 65-69 grouping. He set records in the 50 breast (35.44), 100 breast (1:17.01) and 200 breast (2:56.84). Richard Todd also dipped under the former 100 breast record in the age division, but wound up second in 1:19.39.

Jackie Marr checked in with a pair of 65-69 world records in the 800 free (11:44.69) and 1500 free (22:28.15), while Roque Santos turned in records in the 40-44 100 breast (1:04.60) and 200 breast (2:19.80).

The 240-279 mixed 200 medley relay from Tamalpais of Burns, Ken Frost, Val and Nancy Ridout also shot down a world record with a time of 2:14.24.

Additionally, 20 USMS records were bettered.
