Six-Star Recruit Caitlin Leverenz Makes Collegiate Decision

TUCSON, Arizona, October 13. TERI McKeever's days just keep getting better and better. Shortly after Swimming World six-star recruit Mary Beck switched her college pledge from Texas to California, another six-star prospect looks to be headed to Berkeley as well.

Six-star superstar Caitlin Leverenz made her college choice public recently, and will be attending California for the next four years.

"When I took my trip to Cal, I knew it was the one," Leverenz told Swimming World. "I loved the school, the girls on the team, Teri and everything about it."

Leverenz provides McKeever with a national title threat from the get-go. Leverenz already would have qualified for the A final at the 2008 NCAA Division I Championships in both the 200-yard breast (2:08.11) and 400-yard IM (4:08.61). She also would have made the B final in the 100-yard breast (1:00.84) and 200-yard IM (1:58.03).

Leverenz' resume is deep in meter events as well. She has top times that clear the previous U.S. Olympics Trials mark in the 200-meter free (2:02.91), 400-meter free (4:17.86), 100-meter breast (1:09.39), 200-meter breast (2:25.62), 100-meter fly (1:01.97), 200-meter fly (2:14.39), 200-meter IM (2:11.28) and 400-meter IM (4:38.54).

On top of Beck and Leverenz' pledges, California has been the hot recruiting spot of late as five-star men's recruit Tom Shields also announced his pledge to Cal after previously being a soft verbal to Southern California.
