Where and when did you start swimming?
I started swimming when I was about 4 years old at Clearwater Aquatics Club and Countryside Country Club in the summer.

Who would you name as the most influential person and coach in your swimming career?
The most influential coach in my career has been Fred Lewis. The 2 most influential people have been my parents.

What, to this point, is your best moment in the sport and why?
The best moment was racing against Dara Torres in the 50 free at sectionals and getting my first Olympic Trials cut (Olympic trials was pretty good too).

Walk us through a day of practice:
I get there and either do weights or medicine balls for an hour or cardio for a half hour. Then, the real fun begins. We do warm up, then a kick set, then a drill set, then hopefully a sprint set, then main set, and finally warm down.

What is your favorite set?
Any type of sprint set, but especially a set like 3 100s sprint on 1:20 then 2 75s stretch 3 times. I also like test sets (6 50s all out for time)

What is your least favorite set?
Any major distance set or any set that has any breaststroke in it AT ALL.

What are your short-term goals?
To win states in both events and to break a state record in one of them

What are your long-term goals?
To swim for a top college and to eventually go to London, England as a member of the U.S. Olympic team.

What colleges are you interested in so far?
Arizona, UCLA, Cal Berkley, Georgia, Florida, Auburn – not in any specific order

How is the recruiting process going?
I'm doing a lot of research and waiting for an opportunity to visit a lot of schools next year.

Is there anything else that you'd like our readers to know about you?
Up until this year, I have been involved in soccer as well as swimming. I was the starting left midfielder for the state Olympic Development Team 2 years in a row in soccer. (Now it's all about swimming)
