Swimming Technique Focuses On Early-Season Goal Setting In September Issue

PHOENIX, Arizona, September 4. AT this time of year, one of the most crucial things coach and swimmer confront is establishing goals for the season ahead. This activity sets the table for the upcoming hours of training that the swimmer will be putting in.

In this issue of Swimming Technique, author Daniel Carl outlines a system for setting seasonal and yearly goals. Five key areas for goal setting are identified and serve as the basis for setting objectives for both coach and swimmer. The suggestions put forth in this article provide a flexible and customized process whereby swimmers and coaches can more readily attain their desired outcomes.

Also in the current issue of Swimming Technique contributor Michael Stott talks with coaches at various levels, about how they prepare their teams to win important mid season dual meets. Rounding out the Swimming Technique section this month is an examination of energy drinks; what they are, side effects and do they have a role in exercise.

Also, a special sneak preview of John Lohn's stellar recap of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, which will appear in print in October, is available to premium subscribers now.
