Olympics, Synchronized Swimming: Russians Complete Perfect Routine For Gold

BEIJING, China, August 23. THE Russian contingent put together an amazing 100-point routine to capture the team free routine gold medal in synchronized swimming.

The team of Anastasia Davydova, Anastasia Ermakova, Maria Gromova, Natalia Ishchenko, Elvira Khasyanova, Olga Kuzhela, Svetlana Romashina and Anna Shorina topped out the technical merit and artistic impression tallies with matching 50s. Only one judge on each panel gave the Russians less than a 10, and those marks are dropped as part of the scoring process.

Spain took silver with 98.667 points as it collected totals of 49.167 and 49.500 in technical merit and artistic impression. China captured bronze with 97.500 points based on 48.667 and 48.833 points in technical merit and artistic impression.

The U.S. team of Brooke Abel, Janet Culp, Kate Hooven, Christina Jones, Andrea Nott, Annabelle Orme, Jillian Penner and Kim Probst took fifth with 95.500 points (47.667 TM and 47.833 AI).
