Skip Runkle Named Head Coach at Mt. Hood Swim Team

MOUNT HOOD, Oregon, August 5. BRANDON Drawz, Executive Director of MHST and Assistant Director of Athletics at Mt. Hood Community College, announced today that Skip Runkle, coach of the Multnomah Athletic Club for the past 27 years, will be the next Head Coach of the Mt. Hood Swim Team. Runkle, who has coached the MAC team to several top ten finishes at Nationals, produced multiple National Champions, been a National Team Coach on numerous trips, and produced dozens of National Team Members, will assume his responsibilities in September. Runkle is also a recipient of one of ASCA's top honors, the Silver Career Achievement award, for placing an athlete in the top-eight at Nationals for 15 years in a row.

Runkle—"The Mt. Hood program has a world class facility and the potential to emerge as a program which is competitive at the national level. I'm very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of it in the years to come".

Drawz—"We are extremely proud and honored to have a coach of Skip's caliber to lead the Mt. Hood Swim Team into its next era. Further, we are very grateful and thankful for all of the extremely talented coaches that showed interest in this position—we wish them the best."

The Mt. Hood Swim Team is based out of the Mt. Hood Community College Aquatic Center and runs multiple sites in east Multnomah County.
