NCAA Votes on Variety of Issues Including Suits, Co-Ed Meets

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, July 28. THE NCAA Swimming and Diving Committee voted on a variety of topics in its latest meeting, according to Collegeswimming.com.

One of the biggest stories to come out of the meeting was a vote to continue the ban on the new high-tech swimsuits, which all debuted this year.

According to Collegeswimming.com, "Last year the NCAA created a moratorium prohibiting the use of suits that were not commercially available prior to January 1, 2008. The committee voted to extend the moratorium on the new suits for another year."

Additionally, the article reports that the committee moved closer to a long-term decision to create co-ed meets at the Division I, II and III levels. A set of proposed 2009 NCAA Division I standards is also available in the article.
