Italian Championships: Mattia Nalesso Downs Men’s 50 Fly Italian Record

TREVISO, Italy, July 17. WHILE not as amazing as Alessia Filippi's European record swim from the first night in the women's 1500 free, Mattia Nalesso had enough in the tank to lower his men's 50 fly Italian record during the second day of swimming at the Italian National Championships.

Nalesso checked in with a time of 23.74, beating his previous best of 23.96 set last month in Rome.

Roberta Ioppi captured the women's 200 back title in 2:14.76, just edging Romina Armellini (2:14.82), while Emiliano Brembilla touched out Nicola Cassio, 1:49.94 to 1:49.99, in the men's 200 free.

In the women's 50 breast, Roberta Panara won in 32.09, while Cristina Chiuso won the women's 50 free in 25.22.

Sebastiano Ranfagni grabbed the men's 200 back title in 1:59.90, while Elisa Pasini wound up winning the women's 400 IM in 4:49.35. Federico Turrini also won a close contest with Vanni Mangoni, 2:03.25 to 2:03.64, for the men's 200 IM title.
