Scottish National Open Championships: Robbie Renwick, Hannah Miley Close Meet

GLASGOW, Scotland, June 29. AT the end of the Scottish National Open Championships held in Glasgow, hometown hero Robbie Renwick claimed a victory over Alain Bernard.

Albeit, the triumph came in the 200 free, not exactly Bernard's best event, Renwick emerged with a win, 1:47.70 to 1:47.81.

"I was feeling great this morning and posted a good time in the heats. I really wanted to race well here this evening and I am delighted with that victory," Renwick told Scottish Swimming. "The support from the crowd was fantastic and to have achieved that time, in that race, against such an opponent during what is still a heavy training block, will give me confidence going into final preparations for Beijing."

Hannah Miley continued her strong meet, this time clocking a time of 16:28.06 to win the women's 1500 free, and destroy the Scottish record of 16:48.88 set by Megan Gilchrist more than a year ago. Earlier in the evening, Miley snagged the women's 200 breast in 2:33.95.
