Scottish National Open Championships: Hannah Miley Beats Out Laure Manaudou

GLASGOW, Scotland, June 27. HANNAH Miley touched out Laure Manaudou in the women's 200 back to highlight the second day of swimming at the Scottish National Open Championships.

Miley had to hold off a hard-charging Manaudou, 2:12.66 to 2:13.11, in the women's 200 back to pick up the victory. Miley crushed the Scottish record of 2:14.80 set by Lorna Smith in 2004. Also in the race, Georgia Davis set the Welsh record with a third-place 2:14.57.

"That was absolute agony; the 5m flags could not have come quick enough!" Miley told Scottish Swimming. "I am really happy with that swim and it is great preparation for my 200m and 400m IM events leading up to the Olympics. It was also fantastic to swim against Laure Manaudou, she is an amazing athlete and I'm going to enjoy this moment as I don't know how many more times I will beat her!"

Other top swims as reported by Scottish Swimming were Robbie Renwick beating Andrew Hunter, 3:51.34 to 3:57.68, in the men's 400 free.

"I am pleased with that time, it is probably the fastest I have been at this point of the season," Renwick told Scottish Swimming. "Training is tough but it is going well. With a lack of 50m facility, I've been training in as many other places than Aberdeen as I can get access to! I'm recently back from Italy and I am looking forward to heading to Liverpool next month."

In disability events, Charlotte Henshaw broke the world record in the SB6 50 breaststroke with a split time of 46.91 during her 100 breast preliminary swim.

Meanwhile, Jim Anderson clocked an S2 world record time of 2:27.10 in the 100 back.
