NBC Tightens Up Media Restrictions During Trials

UNIVERSAL CITY, California, June 23. ACCORDING to a report by the Sports Business Journal, and an e-mail that went out to credentialed media recently, NBC has rules in place to tighten up multimedia coverage of the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.

On top of being required to link back to NBCOlympics.com for any multimedia content acquired during Trials coverage, that same coverage must be deleted permanently from media sites by Aug. 7 – the day before the 2008 Beijing Games.

This is a blanket requirement for all credentialed media members that do not already have a broadcast rights holding relationship with NBC and/or the United States Olympic Committee. These rules are in place at the swimming, gymnastics and track and field trials.
