Nike Allowing Swimmers To Wear Competitors’ Suits

BEAVERTON, Oregon, June 18. IN an article released by the Associated Press, Nike has confirmed a long-rumored move to allow its sponsored athletes to swim in other brands of suits during the U.S. Olympic Trials.

"For now, Nike is simply allowing its seven sponsored swimmers, Brendan Hansen, Aaron Peirsol and Whitney Myers among them, to wear the Speedo at the trials instead of the Nike Swift swimsuit…[Nike spokesperson Derek Kent] declined to say if that permission would extend to the actual games or if Nike is redesigning its own Swift swimsuit. ‘We're continuing work with our athletes to get their feedback on the product and fine-tune it,' [Nike spokesperson Derek Kent] said.

The decision has even more impact as Nike athletes may not be able to wear swim caps with the Nike logo attached during Trials as previously reported.
