California Interscholastic Federation San Diego Section Division II High School State Championships

CORONADO, California, June 10. NICOLE Parmenter from San Marcos capped off her sophomore campaign with two individual event victories, and she took down one section record at the CIF San Diego Section Division II Championships.

Parmenter fell 15-hundredths of a second short of the section record in the 100 butterfly, turning in a finals time of 55.57. Bianca Casciari from Poway set the standing mark of 55.42 the day before in the Division I championships. Parmenter then totaled the 100 backstroke record with a sizzling 55.12. Kirsten Fontana from Patrick Henry set the previous mark of 56.38 back in 2006.

Horizon's Jessica Heim paced the field in both longer-distance freestyle events, taking the 200 freestyle in 1:50.51 and the 500 freestyle in 4:55.61.

Chelsea Weedman from Cathedral Catholic dominated each of her events, winning each by a sizable margin. Weedman clocked a 2:04.00 200 IM before pasting the field in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.72).

Bishop's reeled in the majority of relay titles, taking two of three. The foursome of Andrea Basaraba, Sam Allen, Noel Elgamal and Sarah Presant won by just less than a second in the 200 medley relay, clocking a 1:50.94. Dominique Sardo, Basaraba, Presant and Elgamal improved upon a third-place swim in the preliminary heats, winning by more than two seconds with a time of 3:37.12 in the 400 freestyle relay.

Allison Rogers from Mount Carmel bested the diving competition with a score of 159.20. Ashley Butler of Cathedral Catholic placed second with a 150.00 score while El Capitan's Sam Wilson garnered the third-place honors (147.20).

Men's Results
Keegan Groot, a Cathedral Catholic senior, was a double-event winner. Groot finished the 200 IM in 1:55.38 and captured the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.33.

Justin DiFederico of Christian crushed the field in each of his individual event outings, winning the 100 butterfly in 50.13 and the 100 backstroke in 51.76.

The La Jolla men swam their way to two relay victories. The 200 freestyle relay consisting of Alexander Arcidiacono, Miko Vespremi, Hunter Gettelfinger and Tyler Woods placed first in an even 1:28.00. Vespremi, Troy LeLoup, Gettelfinger and Woods checked in with a first-place 3:13.73 in the 400 freestyle relay.

Gaither Rosser from Mount Carmel edged Cody Walwick of Westview in the diving event by a 202.85-199.05 score. Chris Ackman of Saint's finished up in third with a 163.80 score. Diving legend Greg Louganis from Valhalla still holds the section record of 566.76, which he set back in 1977.
