Oceania Championships: Regional Contest Comes to Close

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand, June 8. THE Oceania Championships came to a close in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Australia's Rebecca Ohlwein snatched the 50 free title in 25.14 with a meet record. Meanwhile, Mark Herring of New Zealand set the meet record in the men's 50 free with a time of 22.91.

Glenn Snyders of New Zealand took another meet record with a 2:16.24 in the 200 breast, while New Zealand's 400 medley relay downed the meet record in 3:38.62.

Other winners included Lauren Boyle of New Zealand in the women's 800 free (8:44.06), Helen Norfolk of New Zealand in the women's 200 IM (2:14.74), Australia's Jessica Legge in the women's 200 breast (2:34.66) and New Zealand's Dean Kent in the men's 200 IM (2:02.21).

The next Oceania Championships are scheduled to take place in 2010 in Samoa.
