May 1, 2008 We've heard of a pair of additions to these rankings. First, Brendan Hansen has a 59.98 to his credit from 2007 Nationals during prelims in the 100 breast.

Also, Garrett Weber-Gale has a 48.50 in the men's 100 free.

May 1, 2008 Didn't Park Tae Hwan swim a 3:43-mid 400 Free earlier this year? (new Asian record)

May 1, 2008 he just swam a 3:43.59 at a local meet on the weekend of April 18th.

May 1, 2008 Per BOTH SwimNews.com and the 2008 FINA list, Tae Hwn Park deoes NOT have any lcm 400 free time sub 3:53.0 for this season.

Also the 25th-fastest performance in men's 100 breast is 59.96 so Brendan Hansen's 59.98 from Indy prelims last August is not quite fast enough.

May 1, 2008 In my "defense," most of the things pointed out are typos.,

That 50 freereference under Schreuder's name does in fact belong to Dara. No Dutch woman is going to set an AR @ European Championships although Inky set our 50 free open recored at that meet inSeattle eight years ago.

Yes, Schipper's first name is misspelled in 200 fly.. Typo.

The writer is correct, Kirsty Coventry and NOT Margaret Hoelzer stopped Coughlin froim going 12 for 12 # NCAAs four years agbo by wining 200 back. Bad memory that.

Hoelzer did win '05 NCAA 200 free.

Hoff's backstroke split on her AR 400 IM has been corrected to 1:10.19.

And as the writer corrected himself, Klochkova set Olympic records but NOT wrs in both IMs @ Sydney. The Chinese girll's record from several years earlier still stood until Rice came along in late March.

Whitney Myers' first name was misspelled. Typo.

Mary T. and NAG records.

pER u.s. sWIMMING, HER 13-14 100-200 MVFLY nag RECORDS ARE 59.71-2:07.01 FROM THE '79 aauS IN fT. lAUDERDALE THAT aUGUST.

tHEN @ bROWN dEER IN SUMER OF '81 SHE DID THOSE 57.93-2:05.96 CLOCKINGS, BOTH still 15-16 nag STANDARDS.

mY ERROR BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO ADMIT NOT TOO BAD A BATING AVERAGE ALL THINGSCONSIDERED.

Has anyone noticed Mme. Isakovbics's "exploits" of late?

1:56.9+ pr/NR 200 free @ Vienna a week or so ago...that's getting down there and she also had a nice pr/NR 4:08+ 400 free too at that Vienna meet.

Looks like Teri McKeever got herself a pretty good recruit for next season.

And anyone notice how Klochkova did n't exactly light up the poool in the IMs @ eindhoven, finishinglast in 400 and down in pack in 200.

Isshe getting long in the tooth or just biding her time for Beijing?

We shall see.

How 'bout Mireia Garcia winning the 200 IM? Spain's first titlest in many a moon save for Nina Z. and she too is another swimmer getting a tad long in the tooth. She swam for Mogtehr Russia at the '94 Worldsw in Rome.

Whatever happened to Theresa Alshammer? Like Yana K. coolin' it until The Olympics?

Veldhuis, Trickett, Britta S., Mongel, Dara, maybe Kara-Lynn, maybe Lara Jackson (Jessic hardy?) and maybe Cate Campbell may well shut her out of not only hardware this summer but also of perhaps even finaling in 50 free!

Thx to all thesharp-eyed readers out there. I like to maintain the list as accuragtely as possible and these correxes help do precisely that.

May 2, 2008 Hey everyone. Just wanted to step in a bit here. We post Bill Bell's lists as a service to both our readership and to Bill. Corrections to his list help him keep a more accurate document, while his information can help our readership keep an eye out on how the all-time lists are looking.

I've noticed that some of the debate here is getting a bit intense. I don't think we need to get into arguments here about who is wrong or right. Please keep your comments to stating the facts regarding the lists.

Also, when we post a list from Bill Bell, it is the list at the time he sends them to us. We don't go back and re-post the lists, as we do not own and maintain them. That's why your corrections are not showing up.

At the next logical mass update, which I could envision being after the U.S. Olympic Trials, I'm sure Bill will have your corrections included in his lists.

Thanks for your passion regarding the history of our sport, both Bill and our readers.

May 2, 2008 WE Swimmer.

If youhave specifics of that 3:43.59 Park 400 swim and could posgt details (site, date, splits) that would be a great service to the swimming statistical community.

May 2, 2008 Bill,

Park did go 3:43.59. No splits that I've seen are available. It was on April 18 in Seoul. He also went 1:46.26 two days later on April 20 in the 200.
