World Short Course Championships: Felicity Galvez of Australia Swims Top Time in 100 Butterfly Semis

MANCHESTER, England, April 12. FELICITY Galvez of Australia shored up lane four for tomorrow night's final with a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly semifinal at the FINA World Short Course Championships.

Galvez finished first with a time of 56.63, which fell just short of the United States' Jenny Thompson's World Championship record of 56.56.

Jemma Lowe from Great Britain placed second with a time of 56.99. Rachel Komisarz from the United States clocked a third-place 57.08.

Lize Mari Retief of South Africa (57.30), Mandy Loots of South Africa (57.78), Anna Gostomelsky from Israel (57.91), Chantal Groot from the Netherlands (57.96) and Ellen Gandy of Great Britain rounded out the qualifiers for the final heat.
