Kevin Sage Takes Over at Colorado Mines

GOLDEN, Colorado, April 11. KEVIN Sage has been named Head Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Coach / Director of Aquatics at Colorado School of Mines, as announced today by Director of Athletics Tom Spicer.

Sage, whose appointment comes after being named the Interim Head Coach on February 26, initially joined the Mines coaching staff in the fall of 2007.

"I am very excited about this opportunity to lead our swimming and diving teams," said Sage. "We will continue to build off of our recent successes and strive towards developing one of the nation's elite NCAA Division II programs."

In 2007-08, three CSM divers (Chandra Lippitt, Chris Moore and Simon Demby-Myers) qualified for the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving National Championships under Sage's tutelage.

Prior to his arrival at CSM, Sage spent three years as the assistant swimming & diving coach at the Metropolitan State College of Denver. Sage's previous collegiate coaching experience also includes positions at Ball State University, the University of Denver and the University of Colorado (club team). Sage, who coached diving at five Colorado high schools (Arvada, Arvada West, Pomona, Ralston Valley and Standley Lake), earned Jefferson County Coach of the Year accolades as a head diving coach in 1998 and as a head swimming coach in 2005. Sage has contributed to the diving careers of over 60 different Colorado state championship finalists (top 16 at state meet), including several CHSAA state champions.

Sage, the Colorado AAU Diving Sport Director, is a lifetime coach member of USA Diving. Also a USA DIVE SAFE Program Director, Sage is a member of the Professional Diving Coaches Association. A USA Diving master-level certified spotter in all dryland training tools, Sage has been on five visits to the National Training Center in recent years, including a week-long mentorship just before the 2004 USA Olympic Trials. Sage has coached numerous NISCA All-Americans, USAD National Finalists, USAD Senior Prequal Finalists and an AAU All-American.

Sage's duties at Colorado School of Mines will begin immediately.
