World Short Course Championships: Fran Halsall Edges Semi 100 Freestyle Field, Resets National Record

MANCHESTER, England, April 10. FRAN Halsall from Great Britain edged out a national record with a win in a tight semifinal 100 freestyle heat at the FINA World Short Course Championships.

Halsall holds the top qualifying time for finals with a 53.20. With the swim she lowered her 53.24 record, which she set in the preliminary heats.

Alice Mills and Shayne Reese, both from Australia, finished second and third with times of 53.24 and 53.26, respectively.

Josefin Lillhage from Sweden touched fourth in 53.27. Hanna-Maria Seppala of Finland (53.50), Marleen Veldhuis of the Netherlands (53.74) and Kara Denby (53.78) and Emily Silver (53.85) of the United States rounded out the top eight.
