MANCHESTER, England, April 9. THE men's 100 breast world title might remain in the hands of a Ukrainian during finals, but it might be someone other than defending champ Oleg Lisogor. Igor Borysik led qualifying in the event at the FINA World Short Course Championships.

Borysik checked in with a time of 58.60, while Norway's Alexander Dale Oen nearly clipped his national record of 58.60 with a 58.61 for second place.

The Netherlands' Robin van Aggele took third in 58.73 to erase his national record of 58.88 set last December, while Lisogor qualified fourth in 58.73.

Great Britain's James Gibson (58.78), South Africa's Cameron van der Burgh (58.87), New Zealand's Glenn Snyders (58.90) and Mark Gangloff of the U.S. (58.97) completed the rest of the top eight.

Notably, Mike Alexandrov (9th/59.06) and Ryan Lochte (11th/59.11) missed the championship heat.
