USA Swimming Grand Prix, Stanford: Natalie Coughlin, Klete Keller Impress on Second Night

STANFORD, California, April 5. THE second night of swimming at the USA Swimming Grand Prix held in Stanford provided plenty of pool records, while Natalie Coughlin and Klete Keller posted some swift swims.

Women's 200 IM

Tonight, she blistered the shorter medley with a fantastic 2:10.88. She became just the third American swimmer under 2:11 as she joined Katie Hoff (2:10.08) and Whitney Myers (2:10.11). She also moved into the top 10 all time in the event.

Keller also improved upon his season-best effort of 3:47.04 from the Missouri Grand Prix in February.

Andy Grant touched out Luis Escobar for second, 3:59.57 to 3:59.73, as the duo completed the top three, which were the only sub-4:00 times of the race.

Women's 100 breast
Tara Kirk won a head-to-head battle with some top American breaststrokers like Megan Jendrick and Keri Hehn as Kirk just missed Leisel Jones' pool record of 1:07.27. Kirk clocked a time of 1:07.33, coming up a bit short of her season-best time of 1:06.66 from the Missouri Grand Prix.

In the consolation heat, Tatiane Sakemi took 10th overall with a time of 1:11.21 to set the South American record in the event.

Men's 100 breast
Another pool record withstood a run as Henrique Barbosa surfaced from a hotly-contested final with a time of 1:02.32. Brenton Rickard's facility standard of 1:02.15 stood up, however.
