FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 28. MIAMI's Reuben Ross dominated the three-meter diving finale with an astounding 466.80 points to win the title at the NCAA Division I Men's Championships.
Ross, who averaged 77.80 points per dive, absolutely nailed his fifth-round dive (an inward 3.5 somersault from the tuck position) for 91.80 points.
He gave Miami its sixth title in the event's history, and first since Bryan Gillooly won the three-meter in 1998. Other winners for the Hurricanes included Tyce Routson (1997), Chris Mantilla (1996), Dean Panaro (1993) and the legendary Greg Louganis (1980).

"It's incredible," Ross said. "I'm on top of the world right now. I've had a smile since the event finished. It's just an incredible feeling."
Georgia's Chris Colwill nearly came back to reclaim his title from 2006 after redshirting to compete in the World Championships, but came up just short with a second-place tally of 460.55.
While the 6.25-point victory is close, it isn't even close to the nearest margin of victory at NCAAs in the three-meter. The record, currently holding for 25 years, remains at 0.10 points when Ron Meyer of Arkansas (606.70) defeated Mark Bradshaw of Ohio State (606.60) in 1985.
Alabama's Aaron Fleshner placed third with 414.40 points.
Texas cut the gap to 85 points as Arizona led the Longhorns, 336-251, after the diving break. California (208.5), Stanford (203) and Auburn (201) owned the top five spots.
