FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 28. STANFORD's Paul Kornfeld captured the 100 breast title with a sterling time at the NCAA Division I Men's Championships.
Kornfeld clocked the sixth-fastest swim of all time with a 52.03 to move into fourth all time behind Mike Alexandrov (51.56), Jeremy Linn (51.86) and Brendan Hansen (51.96).
The win is Stanford's 13th in the event, but the first since Gary Marshall won in 2005 with a 52.68. Additionally, the national title is Stanford's 135th in program history, second only to Michigan who ended the day with an NCAA-record 157 titles.

"It feels really good to get the win," Kornfeld said. "I wish it was 51 [seconds], but you know a win is a win. I don't have quite as much speed as some of these guys, but I just have to swim my own race and it is all heart for the last 25 [yards]."
California's Damir Dugonjic and Arizona's Marcus Titus tied for second with matching times of 52.61 to tie with Tyler O'Halloran and Alex Hetland as the 15th-fastest performers of all time.
Arizona pushed its lead to 86 points, 299 to 213, over Texas. Stanford (190), California (188.5) and Michigan (175) picked up the rest of the top five.
