USA Swimming Sectionals, Waukesha: Wisconsin-Area Swimmers Take Center Stage

WAUKESHA, Wisconsin, March 7. AS opposed to the rest of the sectionals across the country, the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Waukesha, Wis., has been contested over short course yards.

New Trier began the night with a 1-2 in the women's 100 back when Emily Dominski (55.46) and Betsy Webb (55.73) topped the event, while Nick Allen of Nitro Swimming slapped the wall in 52.06 to win the men's 100 back.

In the women's 100 breast, Emily Russart stopped the clock in 1:02.01 for the victory, while Kevin Zakrzewski of Patriot Aquatics claimed the men's 100 breast in 54.92.

The Bloomington Waves swept the top two spots in the women's 200 free as Monica Drake (1:48.46) and Lindsay Gendron (1:49.31) finished first and second, respectively. Meanwhile, Weston Lagerhausen of Waukesha Express grabbed the men's 20 free title in 1:38.87.

For the women's 100 fly, Maddie Tarantolo hit the wall in 55.42 for the win, while Dan Zabler of Black Hawk stopped the clock in 50.15 to win the men's 100 fly.

Alisa Finn of New Trier nabbed the women's 200 IM title with a 2:03.46, while Matt Elliott of Peoria Area claimed the men's 200 IM in 1:52.46.

In first-day competition, Victoria Alland of Patriot Aquatics won the women's 1000 free in 10:12.42, while Chris Johnson of Badger Aquatics finished the men's 1000 free with a win in 9:23.49.
