LINCOLN, Nebraska, March 7. SHANNON Guy led the Millard West women to their first-ever state Nebraska State Championship, taking two events and one meet record.

Omaha Marian's women's team won each of the seven prior state meets, placing a stranglehold on the competition for nearly a decade. Millard West, however, easily disposed of the Omaha Marian dynasty by winning the meet with 298 points. Omaha Marian finished well behind in second with 213 points while the Omaha Duchesne Academy came out third with 197 points.
Omaha Creighton Prep won its second straight state championship, tallying 310 points. Lincoln East and Omaha Westside placed second and third with scores of 209.5 and 154.5, respectively.
Women's Individual Results
Guy won her third and fourth state title in her two-year tenure as a high school swimmer, putting her in solid position to equal the state record of eight individual titles set by Karen Criss of Omaha Marian. Guy shaved .05 off of her former state record in the 100 butterfly with a 56.15 time in finals. She corralled her second individual gold with a 1:06.18 time in the 100 breaststroke.
Emma O'Connell from Millard West took both sprint freestyle events in her inaugural state meet appearance. O'Connell clocked a 24.17 in the 50 freestyle and a 52.12 in the 100 freestyle.
Millard West went a perfect three-for-three in the relay events. The 200 medley relay grouping of Ellen Illg, Kayla Stauffer, Guy and O'Connell checked in with a 1:48.12 time. Millard West's 200 freestyle relay took the top spot as well, as the quartet of Elizabeth McGinn, Molly Pengilly, Anna Howard and Colleen Klaiber put up a 1:38.07 performance. The meet ended in favor of Millard West as well, as the foursome of Bianca Christensen, O'Connell, Guy and Klaiber recorded a time of 3:32.74 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Men's Individual Results
Errond Williams of Omaha Benson was coronated as the male sprinting champion, winning the 50 freestyle (21.22) and the 100 freestyle (47.14).
Kyle Wemhoff from Norfolk won his first-ever 200 freestyle title, taking the event in 1:42.88. Wemhoff won his bread and butter event, the 500 freestyle, for the fourth year in a row, clocking a 4:44.31.
Omaha Creighton Prep put up gold-standard times in two relay events. The 200 medley relay contingent of Matthew Franco, Ryan Fisher, Scott Zey and Alexander Jacobsen turned in a first-place time of 1:37.98 while the Omaha Creighton Prep 400 freestyle relay (William Schuermann, Thomas Gasnick, Patrick Militti and William Kunkel) hit the touchpad first in 3:11.23.
Diving Results
Ashley Westcott from Omaha Burke placed first in the women's diving competition, scoring a 391.95. Christiana Eltiste received the silver medal in the event (387.55) while Amy Herman of Lincoln Southwest scored a 379.60.
Millard North's Bradley Schoreit posted the gold-medal score in the men's competition (398.45). Matthew Hall of McCook scored a 372.65 and took second while Travis Reeves from Norfolk dove a 370.70 score and placed third.
