Polish Grand Prix: Aleksandra Urbanczyk, Pawel Korzeniowski Triple

OSWIECIM, Poland, March 3. THE duo of Aleksandra Urbanczyk and Pawel Korzeniowski walked away with three titles apiece from the Polish Grand Prix held in Oswiecim over the weekend.

Polish record holder Katarzyna Baranowska opened the meet with a victory in the women's 400 IM when she clocked a 4:52.06. Mateusz Matczak followed with a victory of his own in the men's 400 IM with a time of 4:29.50.

In the women's 800 free, Mirela Olczak held off Aleksandra Kaminska, 9:18.63 to 9:20.19, while Przemyslaw Stanczyk touched out Mateusz Sawrymowicz, 7:57.82 to 7:57.95, to claim the men's distance event.

Urbanczyk easily walked away with the women's 50 fly title in 27.88, while Konrad Czerniak nearly cleared 25 when he won the men's 50 fly in 25.02.

Urbanczyk captured her second straight title, this time with a 30.42 in the women's 50 back, while Adam Miczewski touched first in the men's 50 back with a time of 26.62.

Beata Kaminska, the national record holder in the event with a 31.93, cruised to victory in the women's 50 breast with a time of 32.74, while Mariusz Winogrodzki, who also owns the national standard with a 28.48, took first in 29.34 in the men's race.

Katarzyna Wilk snared the women's splash-and-dash title with a time of 26.67 in the women's 50 free, while Lukasz Gasior touched out Robert Wilk, 23.45 to 23.64, to win the men's 50 free.

In the 200 fly, Olczak picked up her second title with a time of 2:17.22 in the women's race, while national record holder Korzeniowski crushed the competition in the men's race with a 1:57.44.

Next, Zuzanna Mazurek hit the wall in 2:22.22 to pocket the women's 200 back title, while Radoslaw Kawecki dominated the men's 200 back in 2:04.20.

Iwona Predecka then won the women's 200 breast in a time of 2:30.19, before Maxim Podoprigora claimed the men's title in 2:14.84.

In the 200 free, Paulina Barzycka owned the event with a time of 2:05.61 among the women, while Korzeniowski touched out Gasior, 1:50.70 to 1:50.83, for his second title.

Baranowska touched three seconds off her national record of 2:12.53 in the 200 IM, but still managed her second victory with a 2:15.93, while Matczak earned his second title in 2:05.74.

Katarzyna Wilk completed an exciting finish as she touched out Joanna Budzis, 58.38 to 58.91, in the women's 100 free, while Gasior picked up his second sprint title with a time of 50.99 in the men's 100.

Kaminska added the 100 breast to her 50 breast title when she clocked a 1:11.16, while Podoprigora also doubled his 200 breast with the 100 title in 1:03.86.

In the 100 back, Jagoda Piechocka touched out Weronika Wasiakowska, 1:06.43 to 1:06.86, for the victory. Meanwhile, Miczewski matched his 50 back win with a 56.87 to win the men's 100 back.

Urbanczyk grabbed her third crown of the meet when she touched out Margorzata Gembicka, 1:02.07 to 1:02.67 in the women's 100 fly. In the men's event, Czerniak doubled up with a victory when he hit the wall in 55.02.

Barzycka added the 400 free to her 200 free title with a time of 4:25.90, while Korzeniowski posted a title trifecta with a time of 3:52.18 in the men's 400 free.
