Washington Men’s 3A High School State Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Washington, March 2. MERCER Island showed no sings of letting up with its dominance at the Washington Men's 3A High School Championships, winning its third straight title by the largest margin in the history of the 3A championship meet.

Mercer Island blew the competition out of the water by compiling a meet-high 374 points. Newport trailed well behind and took second with 170 points. Kennedy placed third with 155 points.

Kennedy won the majority of the relay events, despite finishing third in the team standings. The 200 medley relay team of Josh Kutz, Kevin Munsch, Paul Jovanovich and Conner Johnson combined stroke talents, winning the event in 1:37.80. Kutz, Johnson, Jovanovich and Munsch returned in the 200 freestyle relay, giving Kennedy its second relay gold of the meet with a 1:27.71 showing.

Eastside Catholic's Ethan Kennedy struck gold in each of his individual events, winning the 50 freestyle in 21.40 and the 100 freestyle in 46.81.

Beau Riebe of Mercer Island won the diving competition with a 397.00 score. Cheyne Clark from Bainbridge earned the silver medal with a 380.70 score while Troy Neklason of Highland picked up the third-place honor with a 329.45 score.
